Self Learnt: Guitar

This is a great guy to learn from should you just like Akira, just want to chill with the guitar every once in a while and yet don't want to sound horrible. Here goes, her all time favourite teacher she randomly found. He makes his lessons easy to understand and uses simple common chords.

Chords used in this video below:-

USA: Kids and Exams

One morning when AkiraSabine was getting her kid ready for school.

AkiraSabine:  Ermm.. what's the bathrobe doing here on the chair?

Host mom: Oh, H is going to wear it to school.

AkiraSabine: Wear it to school?

Host mom: Yea, it's the first day of exam and he's going to wear it throughout.

AkiraSabine: Yes, it's the first day of exam but why?

Host Mom: Oh, the school allows them to bring anything they like with them to make them feel good during the exam. They may bring a soft toy, a pillow.. or anything that makes them comfortable having by their side.

AkiraSabine: Ahh... How nice.. I don't know of something like that in Malaysia.

The People's Court

First month in USA in the month of May 2010, Akira had some free time and her kid was in school. So, she checked out what was on the local TV.

"We'd like to sue Mr McBrian, the Managing Director of Power Wash for destruction caused to our house after their service. I'd like to seek a compensation of USD **** for the required repair work."

"The workers weren't meticulous enough with their work and their power wash ruined our blinds among others!!"

"Mr. McBrian, what do you have to say to protect your workers and your company? Is this something to expect after the power wash service rendered to your clients? Did you normally forewarn your customers of potential destruction like this and that your company takes no liability of destructions so as they could take early precautions to safe fragile items at home before your service took off? Could you please briefly explain how the power wash work is carried out?"

"Your Honour, our Power Wash System utilizes high pressure water to remove molds and dirts off surfaces and it is unfortunate that such a minor destruction happened though we would not rule out its possibility. For our work, the water pressure normally ranges from so and so kPA to ensure efficiency."

"We'll be back after a short commercial break.
Will the Stewarts get the compensation they asked for for their loss?
Stay tuned wherever you are!
We shall hear what the judge decides right here at the People's Court!"

On another afternoon, Akira chanced upon another live court scene - The Divorce Court on TV.

It's NEW YEAR again!

Last December, Akira wrote this.
Yesterday, Dec 31st 2010, she felt numb.
YES, NUMB!!
During the past few weeks, she's been (and she's still not done yet) organizing the pictures and videos captured during my last 7 months away in the USA and in Europe.
She's merely deleting poor quality pictures/videos, rotating and also organizing them with proper details and it’s using her quite a lot of time.

Since Akira and you just ushered into the new year, let’s briefly recap happenings in the past 1 year:-
.... Akira's past 1 year...
It has been the most adventurous year of her life thus far.

January : Company’s family day at Genting Highlands, Malaysia
February : During this Chinese New Year, she anxiously waited for the return of her police background check for visa applications
March : Dateline drew near and fingers crossed for AP-HF matching.
April : On the 16th, it was her last day holding the designation as a project executive
May : America had always seem far fetched until she arrived in lovely Seattle. Fresh cherries, strawberries, nectarines, YUM! and she'd like more now!
June : Even more unbelievable, wandering in even lovelier ALASKA!
July : Hiking at snowy Mount Rainier. Picnicking nearly daily during kid’s summer swim meets at sport clubs around Seattle
August : Camping with host family at Birch Bay State Park enjoying freshly caught Dungeness Crabs.
September : Arrived at Glendale, California.
October : Driving 4 kids in a Chevrolet Suburban daily for tennis trainings at the academy, boxing and soccer practices and spending a week at childhood friend’s place in LA.
November : Passport got lost with stolen backpack in London during a 5 weeks’ wandering trip in Europe
December : Arrived home a few days before grandma’s unexpected passing on Dec 10th 2010.

Yes, she touched down at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Dec 6th 2010, a day after her supposedly arrival, due to the unfortunate event in London. It’s been 1 month and she's gotten few replacements for items she lost. Anyways, Christmas is behind Akira and you now and the new year countdown was just yesterday (Though Oh NO!, it’s already 30 mins into Jan 2nd, 2011).

It’s a BRAND NEW YEAR, a brand new month, a brand new day and they call it 1111 !!!

Akira would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year 2011!!!
May whatever you set forth comes true!

What she has for the time being is  a little extra time and she is determined to revive this blog of hers.
There is a lot to write about and pictures to share and because there is too much, she feels lazy. She just needs some time to collect her thoughts and put them down in words. At times, when the mood doesn’t come, blogging feels more like work to her. She makes sure she doesn’t write in times like this as she believes the mood would show in her writing which is not a good thing at all, right?

Aside from blogging, she’d like to play more songs with the guitar(I can play this song now, YAY!), pick up more basketball tricks, pick up more German and Jap (can you figure a joke out of this, some Europeans did on her! ), go to a Toastmaster meeting, mess the kitchen more, annoy her mom and of course, CASH, please come raining down on her!

So, let’s see, yes, she's HOME! YES, that’s FOR sure!
IT’S 2011 NOW! YES, that’s FOR sure!

Is she REALLY here? THIS, she's NOT sure!
